Naturvetarnas income insurance supplements the unemployment insurance fund if you become involuntarily unemployed.
It is an important supplement because the unemployment insurance fund only covers 80% of income up to SEK 33,000 per month.
With income insurance you can get:
- Up to 80 percent of your unemployment insurance basic salary up to SEK 100,000/month gross.
- Compensation for a total of 150 benefit days.

Conditions for income insurance
In order to receive compensation from the Income Insurance, you must meet a number of conditions:
- You must have been a member of Naturvetarna without interruption for the 12 months prior to becoming unemployed. If you have been covered by another union's income insurance, that time can be credited to the qualification period, provided that the period is directly connected to joining Naturvetarna.
- You must be a member of and entitled to income-related unemployment benefit from Akademikernas a-kassa

Additional insurance period
If you want to extend the duration of your income insurance, you can take out voluntary supplementary insurance. It extends your cover by a further 180 days. The supplementary insurance has a qualifying period of 12 months and is valid until the end of the month before you turn 65.
Supplementary insurance for salary
With Supplementary Insurance for Salary, you can increase your cover by up to SEK 60,000 per month if you earn over SEK 100,000 per month. This means that, together with the unemployment insurance fund, you can receive a maximum of 80% of SEK 160,000 gross.
