Opinion to the Swedish Migration Agency
If you are a citizen of a country outside the EU, in most cases you need a work permit to be able to take up employment in Sweden. The work permit must be ready when you travel to Sweden. You cannot get a work permit to come to Sweden to look for work.
On the Swedish Migration Agency's website External link, opens in new window. you can find information about the rules that apply to obtaining a work permit and what requirements there are for employers who are going to employ someone from a non-EU country.
Trade unions can give their opinion on the terms of employment offered to applicants in work permit cases at the Swedish Migration Agency. In the opinion, the trade union assesses whether the salary, insurance and other conditions stated in the offer of employment are inferior to collective agreements or what is customary for the profession or industry.
Naturvetarna submits an opinion to the Migration Agency if the employer has a collective agreement and if we have sufficient information about the employer. Otherwise, Naturvetarna refrains from giving an opinion because we have too little information about the employer who has made the offer of employment.
Opinion to the Public Employment Service
Before a person begins a labor market policy program/intervention with an employer, the Public Employment Service must consult with the relevant trade union to ensure that wages and conditions correspond to collective agreements in the profession or industry. The consultation must take place before the initiative begins.
Naturvetarna submits an opinion to the Public Employment Service if we have sufficient information about the employer.
