Whenever you have a conversation with your employer about your work situation, it is a good idea to take notes. An easy way is to email your notes and have them confirmed.
To discuss at the follow-up interview:
- Have your job duties changed during the time you were away? If so, it is important that these changes are consistent with your employment contract.
- By law, you have the right to work part-time as a parent of young children. You may find it difficult to decide how much you are willing or able to work before you start, but leave the question open until you and your employer know how everything works. If you have decided to work part-time, your tasks should be adapted to a shorter working time.
- What options do you have to organize your working hours in a way that facilitates, for example, picking up and dropping off children?
- The possibility of teleworking often makes things easier for parents of young children. If you will be teleworking more frequently, you should sign a teleworking contract.
If you feel that your employer does not want a follow-up meeting after parental leave, you should contact your local trade union representative or contact Naturvetarnas' member advice service.
