Why should I be a member when I'm about to retire?
There are several advantages to remaining a member of the union, both until and after you retire. Of course, if you remain a member, you will retain all our membership benefits and can, for example, contact our Members' Advice Service for support and advice on employment law issues. Even if you don't intend to fight if something happens to your employment, our advice can help you review any severance agreements and support you in thinking about the situation you find yourself in.
If you are still a member, you can also keep any insurance you may have taken out through Akademikerförsäkring at the same preferential member price, and you can also keep the HELP legal insurance if you have taken it out.
