What applies to a permanent employee on an hourly wage?
Depending on your employment contract, you may have a full-time employment rate of 40 hours per week. You have the right to work at the same level of employment as you are employed at. You are then also entitled to be paid at the same rate. It does not matter whether the calculation is per hour or per month. Usually, the salary is determined as a monthly salary and not as an hourly salary, but there is no obstacle to calculating the salary as an hourly salary instead.
If you have a full-time contract, your employer cannot decide that you should work fewer hours and thus receive less pay. The number of hours that constitute full-time work depends on what is agreed in the collective agreement or your employment contract.
If your child falls ill and you have to take leave, you will be able to receive compensation from the Social Insurance Agency in exactly the same way, regardless of whether you are paid hourly or monthly. This is because you would have been working on the day you take leave.
Overtime can be compensated either in cash or as time off (compensatory leave), depending on what has been agreed in the employment contract or in the collective agreement if there is one.
By the way, you are entitled to normal vacation. Compensatory leave may only be applied if your employment is expected to last less than 3 months. As you have a permanent contract, it is expected to last longer.
