How long is the notice period after the age of 65?
You have the right to remain in your employment until the end of the month in which you turn 69 (the so-called LAS age). If you are dismissed for lack of work or personal reasons, your employer must have a valid reason for doing so.
However, after the age of 68, the employer no longer needs to have a valid reason for dismissal. You are then no longer included in the order of priority for redundancies due to lack of work, and the preferential right to re-employment and a higher degree of employment disappears.
The notice period when the LAS age is reached is 1 month for both parties unless a longer notice period is specifically agreed in the employment contract or collective agreement.
