Do I have to travel on business?
How much you need to travel in the course of your duties depends on the type of post and what you have agreed. If you want to make sure that you do not have to travel for work other than in exceptional cases, it is good to be clear about this during the recruitment process. If the position is such that there is reason to assume that it will entail a lot of travel, it may also be good to regulate the conditions in more detail in the employment contract. To assess whether you are obliged to make a particular trip, you have to weigh up various factors, such as the nature of the position, what is agreed, the length and destination of the trip, personal circumstances (e.g. family circumstances), the anticipation with which the trip was ordered, etc.
