Can I take VAB if I am an hourly worker
As an hourly worker, you can apply for VAB compensation from Försäkringskassan for the days that you would have worked or for shifts that you had to turn down because the child is sick. As for your question about teleworking, it depends on what your employment contract says. There is no legal right to telework. Therefore, unless you have agreed that you will only work remotely (for example, in writing in your employment contract), your employer can require you to work physically on site.
However, if you receive compensation for VAB from the social security authorities, your employer will not pay you a salary for these hours and therefore cannot require you to "work again" at a later date. You can read more about VAB and the rules that apply on the Försäkringskassan website: Vård av barn (vab) - Försäkringskassan (forsakringskassan.se)
