Can I take part-time parental leave?
If you are on parental leave and at the same time receiving the corresponding parental benefit from the social insurance fund, you are entitled to a reduction in normal working hours of
- three quarters
- half
- one quarter
- one eighth
If you do not take parental benefit, you are entitled to a reduction in normal working hours of
- up to one quarter for a child who has not reached the age of 8 or who is older but has not yet completed the first year of school. This is according to the Parental Leave Act.

When the child is under 8 years old, you are entitled to reduce normal working hours by up to a quarter.
When the child is under 18 months old, you are entitled to full leave even if you do not take parental benefit. However, the special right to leave when the child is under 18 months does not apply to part-time leave.
