Can I get paid leave for moving?
It depends on what is specified in the applicable collective agreement, if any.
Under the national collective agreement, you are entitled to 1 day's moving leave on full pay. This applies regardless of the reason behind the move. You may also be entitled to a relocation allowance. Relocation allowance is paid in the following cases:
- If the change of place of work is involuntary.
- If the change of place of work is due to a transfer to an organizationally higher position with the employer or within the government.
- If the employer considers that there are special reasons to pay relocation expenses.
In municipalities and regions, employees who are transferred from one place to another without their own request are reimbursed for reasonable and proven relocation costs.
Contact HR or payroll at the authority to find out what you need to do to benefit from this allowance.
