Register with the employment service

Ensure that your employer reports information to the unemployment insurance fund
In order for you to be entitled to unemployment benefit, your employer needs to report this to Akademikernas a-kassa. There is a convenient e-service where this is registered electronically.

Apply for unemployment insurance
During unemployment, you receive important financial support via your unemployment insurance fund. Naturvetarna is affiliated to Akademikernas a-kassa and it is with them that you should be a member. Naturvetarnas income insurance
Naturvetarnas income insurance is included in your membership and supplements the unemployment insurance fund for 150 days. Apply for compensation from the income insurance by reporting unemployment on the Income Insurance website. External link, opens in new window.
Take references and certificates of service
It can be a good idea to ensure that you have people who can act as references for new potential employers. In principle, anyone who wants a certificate of service, with or without grades, has the right to request this.

Find out which transition agreement applies to you. Through the transition agreement, you can get support from your transition organization to help you find a new job or study.
Trygghetsrådet inom privat sektor
TRR supports salaried employees of private sector employers affiliated to the agreement who have been made redundant due to lack of work.
TRR offers personalized advice to help you find a new job, as well as financial compensation to supplement unemployment benefits for people over 40. Paid studies are now also covered, as well as compensation for those who have been made redundant due to illness and reduced contributions for companies thanks to a new agreement between PTK and the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise. Trygghetsstiftelsen inom statlig sektor
The Job Security Foundation helps former employees in the government sector to move on after redundancy due to lack of work, their own redundancy in the event of relocation or when a fixed-term employment contract expires.
Trygghetsstiftelsen offers individualized support to find new employment and financial support in the form of income reinforcement and supplementation of unemployment insurance.

Omställningsfonden på Kommun & region
The Transition Fund supports employees in municipalities and regions, as well as companies and municipal associations that are members of Pacta, who have been made redundant due to lack of work.
They support you back into a new job and offer financial support.
