All of our activities aim to create sustainable natural scientists, and provide you as a member with tools and support to deal with our changing world.
Naturvetarnas activities work around three focus areas: sustainable social development, sustainable working life and sustainable labor market. Read more about how we work with these focus areas here.
Naturvetarnas environmental management system Mille
To succeed in our advocacy work, we also need to live as we learn. That's why we have developed our own environmental management system Mille. It aims to reduce our direct and indirect environmental impact as much as possible, but above all to be an inspiration for continuous improvement that helps Naturvetarna be the trade union that leads the way towards sustainable development.
Offsetting the climate impact of our activities
In order to contribute to a sustainable future, Naturvetarna chooses to offset the climate impact of its entire operations. This is done by planting trees and preserving forests in Uganda and Malawi, for example.
Naturvetarna conducts an annual analysis that maps the climate impact of its operations from electricity, heating, business travel, paper consumption and the member magazine Naturvetare. Business travel and Naturvetare's member magazine account for most of the climate impact. The analysis is done in collaboration with ZeroMission External link..
Investing capital in ethical funds
For Naturvetarna it is important to take social and environmental responsibility. That is why we invest part of our capital in ethical funds. The investments contribute to sustainable projects in developing countries.
Naturvetarna is the first trade union to invest part of its capital in ethical funds with a focus on the environment and sustainability. Its partner is Oikocredit, the world's largest financier of development projects through private capital.
In the spring of 2014, Naturvetarna made its first investment via Oikocredit and in the spring of 2015 the union made its second investment of SEK 2 million.
