Antimicrobial resistance in animals, food and humans in the EU – perspectives for the future
The introduction of antibiotics into human and veterinary medicine has had a major positive impact on both human and animal health. However, over the last decades antibiotic resistant bacteria have increased in both animals and man. Today, antimicrobial resistance is considered to be one of the major threats to public health.
KSLA will arrange a seminar to review the situation and EU activities undertaken in the animal sector so far, and to discuss strategies for the future. Emphasis will be given to the importance of an integrated approach and European collaboration.
Speakers from the EC commission, and the Agencies EFSA, EMEA and ECDC as well as researchers and stakeholders from the EC will participate in the programme.
